MotoScreen

Privacy policy

Last updated 18 October 2026

In short: MotoScreen has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Most things stay on your phone. What leaves it is only what's needed to show the map, weather, speed limits and music, and we don't keep it. We have no server of our own.

Who is responsible

MotoScreen is made by Måns Regren. Privacy questions: mansregren@gmail.com.

Your location

MotoScreen uses your location on your phone for the map, your speed, guidance, the trip computer, weather and speed limits. While guidance or the trip computer is running, it keeps using your location with the screen off or another app in front, so the ride and the warnings keep working. You'll see a blue indicator in the status bar.

Your location is sent to these services so they can answer, and to no one else:

ServiceWhat is sentWhy
Apple (Maps)Location, search terms and destinationMap, search, routes and travel time
Open-MeteoApproximate location (rounded to about 100 metres)Weather, rain and wind
FOSSGIS (Valhalla, OpenStreetMap)Your route, or the last few hundred metres you've riddenThe speed limit of the road you're on

Music

Contacts and calls

Favourites you pick (name and number) are stored only on your phone. MotoScreen can't see who is calling; calls are handled by iOS.

Motion sensors

The lean angle is worked out from your phone's motion sensors, on the phone. Nothing is sent.

What's stored on your phone

Your settings, your home, your favourites, the trip computer and the tank range. Deleting the app removes it all.

What we don't do

Children

MotoScreen is not directed at children under 13.
